EMT Refresher: 30-hour refresher course following the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model established by the National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT). This course will cover the 20-hour national component required by NREMT. This is comprised of 4 hours airway, 5 hours cardiology, 6 hours medical, 3 hours trauma, and 2 hours operations. There will also be an additional 10 hours of state or individual continuing education. The class will include NREMT skills assessment and Forest Service expanded scope training including supraglottic airway device (i-GEl), dislocation reduction, and Epinephrine IM (intramuscular injection) administration. Practice of the expanded scope can only be authorized by your local Medical Advisor. Instruction will include classroom and outdoors scenario-based training.

Wilderness 1st Aid / Wilderness 1st Responder Refresher:
This Wilderness First Aid course is provided by SOLO Southeast and will cover patient assessment and how to provide basic care for sick or injured patients. Students will participate in hands-on scenarios in addition to classroom lectures and activities. You’ll learn patient assessment, treatment of life threatening conditions, splinting, and management of environmental hazards. Participants can expect to spend time learning as a group in both a classroom setting as well as outside with hands-on action in real world scenarios.
Successful completion of this 18 hr. course will provide a two-year certification and American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED training certification.
Students have the option to recertify their Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) in a Wilderness First Aid class if they initially received their certification through SOLO Southeast. In this case, there is additional material that will need to be reviewed prior to recertification.
